MONARCH BUTTERFLY SANCTUARY
Pacific Grove Sanctuary ideal for viewing the incredible clusters of hundreds of protected butterflies on the trees
Away from the tourist hustle and bustle, this small park is the jewel in Pacific Grove's crown. Monarch butterflies (large orange and black specimens) stop here every year on their migration from Mexico to California. In winter, you can visit this sanctuary and admire the incredible "clusters" of hundreds of butterflies gathered on the trees. An endangered and therefore protected species, it is forbidden to disturb them under penalty of a US$1,000 fine!
