Overpriced food and poor service. Couldn’t even get a glass of wine with the expensive steak. That said the ambience was good but would have preferred to have gone to one of the hundred other eateries in Carmel.

Good food with efficient service. Atmosphere is a little lacking. But would recommend.

My husband have been going to Hog’s Breath Inn for year’s. Our first trip to Carmel and we were looking for a place for dinner. We were walking around town, and we just decided to try it. We loved it and now when we go up to Carmel, that’s our lunch or dinner place. Normally we will just drive up for dinner. I’d recommend trying Hog’s Breath Inn. The bar area is separate from the restaurant. Bar area is nice to just sit and have drinks. It has a fireplace inside. I order martinis and they are delicious. The outside seating is really nice, with multiple fireplaces. Honestly I don’t know what the inside looks like. My husband and I have not ever sat inside. Staff are friendly and always polite, and professional.

absolutely gorgeous restaurant, both the outside and inside area are beautifully decorated and the food was amazing

This place is quite awesome. The food is absolutely delicious and well cooked. The baby back ribs were exquisite and packed a lot of meat on them. The onion rings are also crispy, delicious and flavorful. The food is pricey though, but you will get good portions cooked perfectly, so it's a fair trade in the end. Plenty of good decor of Clint Eastwood as he originally owned the place until 1999.

The only downside here is parking is an actual nightmare. Took nearly half an hour to find a spot before I could go inside, so be prepared for that. The parking is the reason the atmosphere only got 3 stars as it does bring the experience down quite a bit.

We sat on the patio with our 3 kids under 12 years old. I recommend sitting by the fire!

I ate lunch here on March 16, 2024. I'll start with the most positive, the atmosphere is wonderful. The service was disappointing. The staff wasn't friendly and I had to call our waitress over a few times for basic things, water, more coffee (note: we were the ONLY people in the restaurant). The fish tacos were the worst I have ever had. The fish was over cooked, dry, and tasteless; The entire dish was bland (no salsa or spices).

What a neat place, fantastic way to spend an afternoon. It's so cozy. The outdoor fireplaces are perfect. The food was very good. The Clam Chowder was one of the best I have ever had. I also had never heard of Artichoke soup. It was delicious ????! You have got to experience this awesome hidden gem.

Two people shared one sandwich and two beers, $50.00. Ten dollars a beer is a little steep. Paying for the location is what it’s all about. The sandwich was OK. They play up the Clint Eastwood thing and that’s what I would do.

Incredible experience here at the Hogs Breath Inn. Staff comfortably seated a party of 11 for us, and took care of us very well. The food was incredible, I got some of the best fish and chips I've had on the peninsula. To drink I had The Beautiful Carmel, a pleasant blend of Orange Cognac and Penut Butter Whiskey. I'm not usually a cocktail guy, but that was delicious and refreshing. I look forward to coming back here next time I'm in town.

This is a durable Carmel institution. The food is good, the service also, and the decor is vintage Eastwood which has morphed from kitch to camp over the decades. Oodles of outdoor seating which takes full advantage of the climate. It would be hard to imagine Carmel without Hog's Breath. Have I had better chilli? Not often, but yes. Steak sandwich? Kinda, but that's not important. Comfort food. No surprises, and no disappointments in all the years. This is a must-do in Carmel, sort of like Wall Drug in South Dakota. You'll be deprived if you miss it. Truthfully, we do at least one lunch every trip. Perhaps it's because Hog's Breath requires nothing of you but to just relax and eat.

Clint Eastwood used to owe this place. This is a great place to get a drink and hors d'oeuvres with friends, great atmosphere, good bar food, great drinks. It is also super pet friendly with its own pet menu, my 2 small dogs split a hamburger over rice for $10 which they loved. My chocolate martini was yummy. If you are in Carmel you have to stop for a drink here.

It’s American food cafe since 1970. We were there in rain, but very good ambiance, fire place, sitting arrangements, staff is very helpful & cooperative, food was excellent, we enjoyed the hospitality… only they do not share Wi-Fi password with guest , failed to understand why ? Now days no restaurants do like this !
