MISSION SAN FRANCISCO SOLANO
Last California mission at the northern tip of the Camino Real housing a Spanish-style altar and paintings.
The last of the 21 missions in California, built in 1823 by Father Jose Altamira. The present chapel dates from 1841, and replaces the original one, which was destroyed. Due to lack of money, the beautifully decorated part of the sanctuary was favored at the time, and contrasts with the almost pristine white of the rest of the church. The altar is in the Spanish style and the paintings are mostly of Mary and Joseph. It is located at the northern end of the Camino Real.
