GLASS BEACH
This beach, north of Fort Bragg, is known to be one of the only beaches in the world covered with so many pieces of glass. Between 1906 and 1967, the inhabitants were legally flowing their rubbish on the coastal area of the city. Nettoyée for four years it has been protected since 2002 and is part of the adjacent MacKerricher State Park. It is now possible to walk free on the glass beach and admire these millions of colorful pieces shaped by the waves for over 100 years. This beach really deserves the detour, especially to admire how the ocean and the backwash have transformed human pollution into rare and unusual phenomena.
