This is NOT a hotel. No staff on site .Bluetooth check in does not work.Much more like a very expensive AIRBNB with few amenities than.a hotel. No housekeeping.Heating VERY noisy could not sleep with it, but no extra blankets so I was very cold, but slept with towels on bed and extra clothes on.Do not stay here. It feels shabby.

Such a beautiful place to stay. Spacious room. Large tub. Awesome service. We will definitely keep in mind to stay again.

I was hoping for a better experience. The room was not clean, dust in all the corners, even spider webs. The jacuzzi tub looked fun but the ports were caked with orange grime so unappealing we couldn't use this feature. I tried to check in to the room , during check in hours, and the room was not cleaned or ready so we had to wait. Also, the keycard for the room / front door habitually wouldn't work, requiring the assistance of the front desk clerk. It seems with some better cleaning and a few upgrades this would be a nice place to stay.

It wasn't the best of times, nor the worst of times. A wedding party ???? blasted bass heavy music far into the night. ????.

Room was good for the price. Included a large jacuzzi tub which was nice. Easy check in and check out (almost no interaction). I don't know if you could do a late check in since they seem to have limited staffing and hours at the front, and they had a sign on the door saying "call this number if you need anything." The only downside was the tub was clogged and there is no on-site parking. Street parking was expensive, payment required 8am-10pm. It was $10 for 3 hours and I left by 8am the next morning. There is a garage down the street for $18 a day. The shops and everything around seemed to close around 9pm.

WOW, just how did we get fooled by the other reviews, the room was dirty, stains on the walls, dirty carpet, the sink barley had water running. cheaply renovated in maybe the 1970's, and it is bad, missing tiles the cheapest of everything in the room. We were there 3 days and not once did they come to clean the room. The stench from the homeless guy outside thankfully didn't make it to our room. The tub in the room was also all stained up, it was so disgusting. Avoid at all costs.

I think it is awful that we received
terrible service and they don't even bother to contact you to atleast apologize on their horrible staff's behalf! Never again very disappointed.

Great wedding venue

Garbage service. Bath and sink drip constantly and it's a 50-50 if your room key works. God forbid you are out late and your key doesn't work. Have to wait for some random guy to show up whenever he gets the chance. Better off sleeping in my car with a sleeping bag!!!!!

Stayed here on Valentine's and it was amazing! The hotel itself is beautiful. You can feel the history in this Victorian Hotel. My suite was awesome. Lots of space, windows that really opened, and the bathroom had a oversized jacuzzi tub. I was surprised to see bath bombs and bubble bath too. I definitely took advantage of the tub. Check in was easy. Maleiah was GREAT! She was very professional and knew the answers to any and all of our questions. Very good customer service and very attenitive to our needs. Ashley was another staff member we interacted with. She too was very kind and helpful. No complaints. Left side of the lobby is a little dining area. They have assorted coffee and teas 24 hours with healthy snacks available as well. They do not offer breakfast but they do have an assortment of muffins to enjoy with coffee in the morning. I truly enjoyed my stay and everything about this hotel and all it has to offer. I look forward to having another oppurtunity to stay at The Sterling again.
But you know what really blew me away? It's how spotless this joint is. I mean, every nook and cranny is kept squeaky clean, and you can just feel the attention to detail. It's no wonder they've got such a solid rep for being top-notch. And the rooms? Man, they're spacious, and the service is top-notch. Whether you're in town for work or a little romantic getaway, this place nails that mix of old-school charm and modern comfort. Plus, being smack dab in the heart of Sacramento, you're right in the thick of it all.
Oh, and get this – if you're planning something big, like a wedding, they've got you covered
Seriously, it's more than just a place to crash; it's an experience. This hotel is meticulously put together and maintained, making it an absolute must if you're in town.
