CALIFORNIA MUSEUM
This museum inspires visitors with the richness and diversity of California.
Just one block from the Capitol State Building, this zeitgeisty museum is run by a non-profit organization in partnership with the Japanese American Citizens League. Opened in September 1998 to tell and preserve California's history, the museum has only evolved over the years, taking in every milestone and important action that has changed the world. Many topics are covered and will continue to evolve, such as the gay community, self-development, women, Hollywood and the California dream, disability and more. The primary goal of this museum, both interactive and educational, is to change one's perception of the world and to open up to others, to give the desire to act, to educate future generations against all forms of injustice.
Each visit is personal and unique. Inspiring visitors with the richness and diversity of California, its art and culture is a successful mission. The museum is internally translated into Spanish.
Permanent exhibits include: the California Hall of Fame, California's First People, California's Notable Women, California's Constitutional Wall (outside), Health by Place of Residence, Japanese and Americans in World War II, and the Unity Center.
Temporary exhibits change every 6 months. Reflecting the very cosmopolitan and open spirit of the state of California, this museum is a real favorite. Don't miss it.
