Replongez in the golden age of Lake Tahoe by visiting the site of the old Tallac Resort, a 29-hectare holiday property built at the end of the th century. In the 1860 s, the south of the lake became the stronghold of gold researchers. Once the Transcontinental Railway was completed, the lake edge became a resort for the San Francisco elite. Tallac Resort has two hotels, a casino and many dependencies. Imagine the opulence of these years of euphoria and sweetness by stopping at the Baldwin Museum (free), or by visiting Pope house. Please note that all funds are returned to Tallac Association, with the aim of maintaining this historic site.

Petite ballade pour revivre le début de l'exploitation touristique du lac avec les bâtiments conservés. Nécessiterait plus d'expmication mais halte agréavle pendant la ballade sur la plage sud

Tallac historic site
C'est un vieux village qui servait de lieu de vacances avec un casino. Les habitations sont en bon état, on peut entrer dans plusieurs et jeter un oeil à l'intérieur des autres. L'intérieur comporte des meubles, habits et objets d'époque, et les explications sur l'occupation des lieux est passionnante. Très sympa avec des enfants et en plus gratuit ! En prime des vues sur le lac et des animations (en tout cas l'été) : musique, jeux d'époque, exposition des véhicules de l'époque...

Magnifique endroit !! Hélas fermé en hiver, ce site n'est ouvert qu'en été mais vous pouvez quand meme vous promener la bas !
