The ski area was born from the ambitious project of Dave McCoy, now billionaire. In 1954, it established the first ski lift on Mammoth mountain, a former 3 350 m volcano. It is open from early November to mid-May, depending on weather conditions. The lifts operate every day from 8 am to 16 pm.
