The Mono Lake Committee is a non-profit citizens' group dedicated to the protection and restoration of the Mono Lake ecosystem. It was founded in 1978, when it became apparent that the City of Los Angeles was draining the lake of water. The committee offers summer canoe tours of this extraordinary, nearly million-year-old salt lake.
