Degnan's Deli is Yosemite's rather nice but mostly convenient sandwich shop. Ready to welcome many of the vacationers in Yosemite, the place is huge. The food is rather basic: salads, snacks, sandwiches, pizzas, soups... All in a very copious format. Simple and efficient. With a large beer and wine list. The place is convenient for a lunch break or when you come back from one of the great hikes in the valley. You can sit around the big tables, inside and outside.

Got a terrible food poisoning from their rye bread sandwich with pastrami. So sad that my beautiful day in Yosemite park ended so badly.

Degnan's is probably one of the better options in the park for food, but it still leaves a lot to be desired. Service is polite, and ordering from humans is a real treat (compared to the kiosks at the lodge), but the flow and ergonomics could definitely be better organized. The food is typical mid grade institutional cafeteria fodder, but it is at least assembled to-order. There's premade grab and go as well, but I didn't bother. The soups are the usual premade reheated from bulk products, but they're actually some of the better options we've had this week. Friends even said Degnan's was better than the food at The Ahwahnee. Sadly, most of what we've eaten in the park has been lackluster, which I entirely attribute to a poor performance by Aramark, and on top of it, the facilities, although seemingly hygienic, do suffer from maintenance issues like doors that don't work properly and treacherous walkways plus everything else one couldn't possibly notice during a brief stay or behind closed doors. I hope the NPS can figure out something better.

My friend and I ate lunch here in November 2023 (one week before Thanksgiving) and in December 2023 (Christmas week). I got the beef/beans chili in November and LOVED it (it was very "beefy"). I was really looking forward to eating the chili again during my December trip. Unfortunately, the December chili was not as good as the November chili (did they change the recipe??). The December chili appeared much less "beefy" and had a strong cumin flavor (which I don't like). I can't get over how delicious the November chili was. The atmosphere in November was LOVELY (peaceful and quiet), but the atmosphere in December was NOT pleasant (too crowded and too noisy). I agree with the other reviews regarding the lack of food options at Degnan's. Luckily, I liked the chili and will probably get it again next time. It was $7.00, which was not great, but acceptable.
