CAMP 4
Camp only for tents that has shower, barbecue, parking, flush toilets and drinking water
Camp with just 25 pitches (6 people maximum). It's the cheapest in the whole park, and a coveted one at that. Camp 4, historically famous as a particularly popular destination since the early 20th century, is ideally located in the heart of the valley, close to the granite cliffs and Yosemite Falls. On site: shower, barbecue, picnic tables, toilets, drinking water and shade. From late May to September, bookings open one week in advance and are limited to 14 nights. The rest of the year, first come, first served!

Bear lockers are available and I could see if you could close with a lock. It has the mechanism against bears ofc, but not against humans. Definitely an honor system so be good Samaritans!
Bathrooms were super clean so very nice. And very easy to stay and access a good number of hikes.
Even though the sign said it was full, there was some vacancy left. It is hard to look for, but basically the rule is one camping party per bear box. Parking is sometimes a nightmare.
- There’s no privacy from others, it’s all pretty much just one big site.
- it feels like you’re backcountry camping because there are no electrical outlets on sites (bring a portable charger) AND the bathrooms only had cold water.
- there is a place to wash dishes and shower, but they are the most unkept facilities I’ve ever seen. In the shower stall I used, the shower head was on the ground only replaced by a tied on ziploc bag. The air vent was caked in mold.
Sorry Yosemite Valley, this campground ain’t it. The only upsides are the views and location.
