ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH
Built in the th century, the Romanesque church of Retournac is remarkable. It has been classified as a "Historic Monument" since 1907. Its apse is particularly notable for its tréflé choir with two absidioles but no ambulatory: it would contain a small crypt now obstructed. The square tower and the boulin holes at the top of the clocher allow for defensive use as a watchtower. Despite all the transformations, the college distinguishes itself by a modest, noble and strong ensemble, in which the visitor will appreciate the delicacy of the profiles and the light yellow ochre colour. This church has beautiful contemporary stained glass windows created and made by Henri Guérin, master verrier in Toulouse. It is a unique work carried out over 40 years (1966-2006). The bursting of the glass slab in its thickness gives the nuances of color. One of the stained glass windows pays tribute to the Dentelières of Retournac.
