KOSTAS-ARGYROU MUSEUM
Dedicated to the great contemporary Cypriot sculptor Kostas Argyrou (1917-2001), self-taught and renowned for his "naive" style.
This museum (Μουσείο Κώστα Αργυρού/Mousio Kosta Argyrou) houses many of the works of sculptor Kostas Argyrou (1917-2001). Self-taught and renowned for his "naïve" style, he is considered the greatest contemporary Cypriot sculptor. His works are inspired by local folklore and history, as well as everyday life: an Aphrodite wiping her hair as she emerges from the water, representations linked to the cult of Saint Xenophon, the protector of the village of Mazotos, or more anecdotal scenes such as a small dog or a sleeper.
