CHAPELLE AGIOS MAMAS
This chapel in a small, sloping street was the seat of Limassol's Orthodox metropolis until the arrival of the Ottomans.
St. Mammas Greek Orthodox Chapel (Παρεκκλήσι Αγίου Μάμα/Parekklísi Agíou Máma) is located in a sloping alley, behind a series of four arches. It is a former cathedral. Built in the 14th century, it was the seat of the Orthodox metropolis (bishopric) of Limassol until the arrival of the Ottomans in 1570. Although it contains no valuable frescoes or furnishings, it retains its original structure, with the rough stone walls typical of Lefkara houses.
