BEACHES OF LIMASSOL
Home to eight grey sand beaches: Akti Olimpion, Dasoudi, Castella and Onisilos, Armonia, Vouppa, Loures Aorati...
From the Limassol coastal park to the tourist area of Amathus, the 12km coastline is home to eight grey sand beaches (Παραλίες/Paralies) protected from the waves by breakwaters. They're not the best on the island, but they have the merit of being easily accessible by bus or bike.
Akti Olimpion. This is the beach of the Coastal Park, near the center of Limassol. It stretches for 2 km along the historic center. It consists of two beaches (Akti Olimpion 1 and 2), on either side of the wooden jetty. There are three bars, parking lots, artworks, etc.
Dasoudi. Located 200 m east of Akti Olimpion, it is just over 1 km long. It owes its name to the nearby eucalyptus forest(dasoudi means "little forest" in Greek Cypriot dialect). The beach is easily accessible on foot, by bike and by bus, with a bus stop nearby.
Castella and Onisilos. A little further away. Two kilometers to the east of Dasoudi, these two beaches form a single 800-m-long beach with disabled access and bars.
Armonia. Bounded by two jetties, this 600 m-long beach is located in the center of Agios Tychonas bay, 200 m east of Onisilos beach and level with the Arsinoe and Navarria hotels. The westernmost part is the most organized and busiest.
Aphroditi. Between Armonia and Vouppa, this stretch is 500 m long. You'll find the same number of visitors and the same facilities as on Armonia beach.
Vouppa. Between Aphroditi and Loures, this beach is 200 m long. It is as busy and well-equipped as the neighboring beaches.
Loures. The last beach to the east of Agios Tychonas bay, it is 200 m long. As it is narrow, it can quickly become crowded in summer.
Santa Barbara. Located 1 km east of Loures beach, Santa Barbara is about 800 m long, with sand and pebbles. Located in front of the Le Méridien hotel, it owes its name to the nearby chapel of Agia Varvara (Santa Barbara in English). The archeological site of Amathus is nearby.
Pareklessia. Located near several chapels(para eklesia, "near the churches"). Following on from Santa Barbara, it too extends 800 m to the marina of the Hotel St. Raphael.
Aorati. The last beach of the Limassol-Amathus conurbation, this beach stretches for 1 km between the marina of the St. Raphael Hotel and the Vasilikos disaster zone, on a still undeveloped part of the coast.
