This mosque (Τζαμί Κεπήρ/Tzami Kepir, Kebir Camii, Great Mosque) can be spotted thanks to its small white minaret. It was built in the 16th century on the site of a 12th-century Orthodox basilica. Damaged by flooding in the 19th century, the northern part was remodeled in 1829 and the southern part in 1907. Closed to worship since the departure of the Turkish Cypriot inhabitants in 1974, it retains its cemetery. It stands on the edge of the old "bazaar", one of the most pleasant parts of the historic center.
