CYPRUS WINE MUSEUM
Museum-shop offering tastings of the owner's wines. Historical exhibition of little interest. Not great wines.
set up on the banks of the Kouris River in 2004, this boutique museum (Κυπριακό Οινομουσείο/Kypriako Inomousio, Cyprus Wine Museum) is disappointing. Apart from a few antique objects and an out-of-date video, we don't discover much. We'd have liked to know more about the 5,000-year history of wine in Cyprus, grape varieties, winemaking methods and so on. For the owner, musician Anastasia Guy, it's all about selling local (and not very good) wines labelled "Cyprus Wine Museum" and "Commandaria Orchestra".
