LESPINASSE CASTLE
This castle was built in the 12th century on the site of a Gallo-Roman villa called Spina.
Built in the 12thcentury on the site of a Gallo-Roman villa called Spinatia (meaning "the pines"), this château is part of the Route des Châteaux d'Auvergne. A member of Demeure Historique, it has also been designated a Natura 2000 site. Enshrined in the greenery of its park, it offers the image of a perfect seigneurial residence. Its keep crowned with machicolations, its multiple towers, watchtowers and turrets with peppered roofs are well worth a visit. The lords of Lespinasse were allied with the greatest families of Auvergne, Limousin and Languedoc.
