Astronomical site at 1,490 m altitude, away from light sources in urban areas. For observing the night sky.
This stargazing site (Αστροπάρκο Τροόδους/Astroparko Troodous, Amiantos Astropark) overlooks the former Amiantos mine. It has no special facilities (it's the old stadium of the abandoned village of Pano Amiantos), but it's located at 1,490 m above sea level, away from the light sources of urbanized areas, and makes for great night-sky viewing. The Nightsky Explorers club organizes telescope evenings when astronomical phenomena occur (comet transits, "red moons", etc.).
