Dedicated to the Virgin of Compassion, this large Greek Orthodox church (Ιερός Ναός Παναγίας Ελεούσας/Ieros Naos Panagias Eleousa) can accommodate 1,500 worshippers. Measuring 30 m in length, it was erected in 1909 on the site of the Megas Agros monastery founded in the 9th century. Next to it is a chapel built in 1990, housing a Byzantine museum (12th-century icons and a beautiful iconostasis) and the Frangoulidi Museum of Contemporary Art, sadly closed in 2020.
