CENTER FOR THE PRESERVATION OF HANDMADE LACE
This museum, housed in the Timios Stavros monastery, displays examples of local lace, known as dentela pipilia.
This museum (Κέντρο για τη Διατήρηση της Χειροποίητης Δαντέλας/Kentro gia ti Diatirisi tis Chiropoiitis Dantelas, Centre For The Presevation Of Narrow Knit Lacing) displays examples of dentela pipilia, embroidered in narrow stitches. This specialty from the villages of Omodos and Kilani is still practiced by fairly elderly women. Unlike Lefkara lace, which was influenced by the Venetians, the pipilia tradition dates back to the Byzantines.
