In a superb natural setting. Pretty little church with medieval frescoes. Store with icons, herbs, bread..
This Greek Orthodox monastery (Ιερά Μονή Παναγίας Αμασγούς/Iera Moni Panagias Amasgous) lies in a beautiful natural setting, near the village of Monagri/Μονάγρι (approx. 160 inhabitants). Founded in the 12th century, it boasts a pretty little church adorned with frescoes from the 12th, 13th and 16th centuries. Set near a so-called "miraculous" spring, the complex is occupied by a community of nuns who sell icons, mountain herbs, bread..

The food portions were good. The taste was delicious. As usual in Cyprus, the meat was over cooked but still has flavour and good.
