AGIOS SAVVAS CHURCH

This Greek Orthodox church (Ιερός Ναός Αγίου Σάββα) was established in 1608 and remodeled until the early 20th century. While it has no particular architectural merit, it benefits from a beautiful, unobstructed location. Above all, it contains many precious objects: icons, portraits of donors, liturgical objects, including the oldest gold chalice in Cyprus (1501) and the precious iconostasis cross (16th century). It is dedicated to Saint Sabas the Sanctified (439-532), a Greek monk from Cappadocia who founded several monasteries.
