ARABLAR MOSQUE
the "Mosque of the Arabs" was founded in the century on the site of the Armenian Catholic Church of the True Cross.
This tiny "Mosque of the Arabs" (Τζαμί Αραπλάρ/Tzami Araplar, Araplar Camii) was founded in the 18th century on the basis of the 14th-century Armenian Catholic Church of the True Cross. It was used by Arab slaves until the end of the 19th century. In Greek, it is more often referred to as the "Cross of Missirikou" (Stavros tou Missirikou), probably a distortion of the Arabic word Misr for Egypt, from which many slaves of the Ottoman Empire came. Along the west wall is the pleasant terrace of the Mattheos restaurant.
