LEDRA PALACE
In the buffer zone, at the Ledra Palace crossing point, a former hotel opened in 1949 and used as a billet by the Blue Helmets.
Opened in 1949, this 200-room former hotel (Λήδρα Πάλας/Lidra Palas) was one of the first establishments to boast a swimming pool in Cyprus. Located in the buffer zone since 1974, it gives its name to the nearby crossing point and serves as a cantonment for soldiers of UNFICYP, the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus. In front of the building, a monument erected in 2024 pays tribute to the peacekeepers from the 43 countries that have taken part in what is the UN's longest peacekeeping mission since 1964.
