A former tekké founded in 1593 and belonging to the Mevelvis Sufi brotherhood, renowned for its "whirling" dervishes.
This museum (Mevlevi Müzesi) is housed in a former tekke founded in 1593 by the powerful Mevlevi Sufi brotherhood, renowned for its "whirling" dervishes. Beneath the six domes of the long building can be seen the former bedrooms of the dervishes and guests, the semahâne (ritual dance floor, the sama), meditation areas, the kitchen and the mausoleums of sixteen mevlevi masters from Cyprus.
