This national museum (Μουσείο Εθνικού Αγώνα/Mousio Ethnikou Agona, National Struggle Museum) is dedicated to the war of independence against the British (1955-1959). Founded in 1961, it pays tribute to the Greek Cypriots of the National Organization of Cypriot Fighters (EOKA). The conflict, which claimed some 600 lives, is presented with photos of atrocities, weapons and a reconstruction of the gallows where nine members of the EOKA were hanged in 1956 and 1957.
