MAISON DE DERVIŞ PAŞA
Museum in a superb early villa belonging to the wealthy merchant Hacı Ahmet Derviş Efendi (1843-1910).
Transformed into a museum, this beautiful early 19th-century villa (Derviş Paşa Konağı) belonged to the wealthy merchant Hacı Ahmet Derviş Efendi (1843-1910), who was a member of the Cypriot assembly and founder of the island's first Turkish-language newspaper, Zaman ("Time"), in 1891. First floor: courtyard, well, reservoir, workshops, kitchen, traditional objects. Upstairs: bedrooms, reception room and traditional objects. Right next door, Bilal, Derviş Paşa's great-grandson, is often present at the small naqshbandi tekke.
