This "Fig Tree Cave" in Nicosia is considered the largest in Cyprus and the most beautiful in the Northern Zone.
Called "Grotto of the Fig tree" in Greek (Σπήλαιο της Συκιάς/Spileo tis Sikias) or "Grotto of the Plane tree" in Turkish (İncirli Mağara) and hidden by... fig trees, it is indicated by signs and appears on the maps of the Tourist Office. This cavity is considered to be the largest in Cyprus and the most beautiful in the northern area. A long passage is nicely "decorated" with stalactites and stalagmites. The cave is accessible by foot from the village of Akanthou (8 km, 400 m altitude difference). Several agencies such as Cyprus Walk Etc offer excursions.
