AGIOS IOANNIS DISTRICT
This "museum district" is one of the key areas of Greek Cypriot identity for the island's inhabitants.
The archdiocese and the high school also have several museums, including the must-see Byzantine Museum. And with 3 other museums that have joined since the 1980s, including NiMAC, Agios Ioannis could largely be nicknamed Nicosia's "museum district". But for the island's inhabitants, this place remains above all one of the great places of Greek Cypriot identity. Established here since the 17th century, the archdiocese has never ceased to play a leading role in the country's politics.
