LAÏKI GITONIA DISTRICT
Small 2-hectare "popular" district (laïki). Pedestrian streets, houses, souvenir stores, etc.
This small, so-called "popular" district (Λαϊκή Γειτονιά/Laïki Gitonia, Laiki Geitonia) is the most touristic part of Nicosia-South's old town. A tangle of pedestrian lanes serves traditional 18th-century houses, artists' studios, souvenir stores, cafés, restaurants and an office of the national tourist board. The district extends over some 2 hectares along Ippokratou Street, between Onasagorou Street to the west and Aischylou Street to the east. To the north, it overlooks the Leventis Museum.
