KAZAFANI MOSQUE
One of the oldest mosques east of Kyrenia. Dating from the century, it contains two finely carved tombs.
In the center of Kazafani, Atatürk Square is dominated by this pretty little mosque (Ozanköy Cami), from which the "crusaders' path" leads to Bellapaïs Abbey. Dating from the 17th century, it is one of the oldest in the eastern Kyrenia region. The interior, once richly decorated, has been completely whitewashed and is not necessarily worth a visit. But the courtyard on the street houses two finely carved and engraved tombs, those of the donors who financed the mosque's construction, Altunizade Ismail Ağa and Mesut Hasbi Efendi.
