Former Venetian market. Restored in 2012, it now houses boutiques, cafés-restaurants and a cultural center.
This ancient market (Bandabuliya, Λαϊκή Αγορά/Laïki Agora) was built by the Venetians in the 16th century, modified by the British, abandoned in 1980, then restored in 2012 with UN support. Today, it houses souvenir stores, cafés-restaurants and a cultural space with library, exhibition and concert hall. Its Turkish name, bandabuliya, is derived from the Greek pantopolio, meaning "all types of stores".
