CANBULAT MUSEUM
In the Venetian bastion of the Arsenal. Dedicated to the Ottoman army, it houses the tomb of Ottoman leader Canbulat Pasha.
This small museum established in 1968 (Canbulat Müzesi, Καμπουλάτ Μουσείο/Kamboulat Mousio) is housed in the bastion dell'Arsenale ("of the arsenal" in Italian), renamed Canbulat by the Ottomans. It houses an exhibition on the Ottoman army (weapons, copies of a tent and costumes, maps, models, etc.) and the tomb of Canbulat Pasha, Kurdish governor of Kilis (a Turkish town on the Syrian border), who took part in the capture of Famagusta in 1571. Above all, it's an opportunity to discover the Venetian fortifications from the inside.
