ACEIAN RANGE
A beautiful, unspoilt beach where, according to legend, the Greeks landed after the Trojan War. A nesting place for sea turtles.
Now called "Turtle Beach" (Kaplumbağa Plajı) or "Ronnas Bay" (Ronnas Körfezi) in Turkish, this beautiful 2.4 km-long wild beach (Αχαιών Ακτή/Achaion Akti) is where, according to legend, the Achaeans, i.e. the Greeks after the Trojan War, landed. In summer, the area is under surveillance and closed at night to allow sea turtles to lay their eggs. And, 1.6 km south of the main road, stands the 15th-century church of the ancient Panagia Eleousa monastery.
