MALTAPOST
The postal administration of the order of Malta was established on 20 May 1966 and the first stamp marked «Sovrano Sicurezza Merito di Malta» (SMOM) issued on 15 November of the same year. The value of stamps is expressed in the currency of the Order: Scudi, Grani, Tari. The first postal agreement between the Order and a foreign State was signed in 1975 with Malta. It stipulated that the Maltese Post was responsible for transporting letters from the Order to its Territory (and stamp stamp stamp). And vice versa. Since then, agreements have been reached with more than 45 countries from all continents (countries where the Catholic religion is often majority). The illustrations of SMOM stamps are mostly religious and historical. Arms, portraits of Knights, actions of the Order. The signing of agreements with States shall each time be the subject of a stamp show illustrated by the arms of the country. Numismatists will also be interested in the currency of the Order.
