Under the English administration, the island was divided into several districts with an administrator at the head of each. To mark the rank of the latter, they were given gardens. This is the case of this one, renamed in honour of a hero of the Great Siege of 1565. Of these gardens, Zeijtun is the most beautiful but also the only one open to the public. Located not far from St. Gregory's Church, this garden was designed by a child of the city, the architect Michael Cachia. When you walk through it, you will notice the presence of many rare species of trees.
