RAMPILA
From the footbridge at the entrance to the town, you can't miss the terrace of this gourmet restaurant, carved into the rock of the moat that surrounds the old town. Many have looked for the entrance, but few have found it! After descending a steep staircase, you pass through a vaulted cellar dug into the fortifications, where beautiful tables with white tablecloths and silver cutlery are set, before emerging onto the terrace. In summer, it's THE most pleasant spot in Valletta, whether for a glass of fine wine as an aperitif or for dinner. The Mediterranean fusion-inspired cuisine is top-notch, subtle and delicious. Perfectly cooked pieces of beef and fish, tasty vegetables, sophisticated plates. The restaurant is rather expensive, but it's unrivalled in Valletta for the quality of its cuisine. Excellent service. While waiting for your meal, you can visit a small, free museum set up by the restaurant's owner, with some forty figures representing Malta's traditional trades, from fisherman to lace-maker.
