Dating from 1958, it was already rebuilt in 1570, on the site of an old church designed by Cassar, then destroyed during the Second World War. Its reconstruction took more than twenty years. Its 60 m dome, which dominates the whole city (you can see it when you visit Valletta by sea), is entirely covered with local stones. It houses a statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, as well as paintings by Mattia Preti, Giuseppe Cali and Arena.
