It is the urban bus company of Madrid that has a good network, although the main problem is the traffic. Informative signs have been installed to inform about the waiting time for the next bus. It is very pleasant to take the bus in Madrid. Although for longer distances, the metro is a better option. For night owls, there are also night buses, called búhos ("owls" in Spanish), that take over between midnight and 6am; they leave from Plaza de Cibeles and Puerta del Sol.
