Great musicals, zarzuela and flamenco shows are performed in this superb theatre.
In Jacinto Benavente's Plaza, in one of the capital's iconic buildings built by architect Eduardo Sánchez Eznarriaga, this famous theatre has featured many great musicals and quality dance performances since its inauguration in June 1917. Zarzuela and flamenco are also an important part of the Calderón's programme, which can accommodate more than 1,000 spectators under its flamboyant gilding. The place is superb and an evening in this theatre will inevitably be unforgettable.
