The Fiestas de la Virgen de la Paloma are one of Madrid's biggest events of the year, and the traditional fiesta of the Latina district. In addition to the procession of the Virgin, the program includes Botellon, street bars and funfair stalls in a warm, neighborhood atmosphere. It's a chance to see people dressed in chulapa (traditional Madrid costume). The heart of the festivities can be found in Plaza de la Paja, Calle Toledo, Plaza de las Visitillas and the streets around the parish church of Virgen de la Paloma.
