IGLESIA DE LAS CALATRAVAS
Pink church in the shape of a Latin cross with a dome with windows, an altarpiece and sculptures by Pablo González Velázquez
Formerly Convento de la Concepcion Real (Convent of the Royal Conception), this curious pink church in the shape of a Latin cross with an enormous cupola surrounded by eight windows is led by the sisters of the Order of Calatrava. The origin of the convent dates back to 1623. At that time, the sisters of the Military Order of Calatrava left the area around Guadalajara to settle in Madrid. Inside, take a look at the 1724 altarpiece and the sculptures of Pablo González Velázquez.
