HERMITAGE OF SAN ANTONIO DE LA FLORIDA
Hermitage, a national monument and a neoclassical temple as its replica, for the worship of San Antonio and the work of Goya
On the banks of the Manzanares, to the west of the city, there are two small neoclassical temples. One of them is the hermitage of San Antonio de la Florida, declared a national monument in 1905. The other is the replica, built in 1928, for the cult in San Antonio, to preserve the original painting by Goya. He painted the frescoes on the interior walls and the dome in just four months. They represent one of the miracles of San Antonio. That's where Goya is buried.
