CASA DE CORREOS
Building with a clock in neoclassical style housing the General Directorate of Security
The Casa de Correos was built during the reign of Charles III. It housed the Directorate General of Security, feared during the Franco era, and is currently the headquarters of the autonomous government of the Community of Madrid. The building, from the late eighteenth century, was built according to the plans of Ventura Rodriguez, in a neoclassical style. A century later, the clock was added to it, which brought it its hour of glory in the life of Madrid: it is in front of it that the inhabitants of the capital celebrate the New Year every December 31.
