Egyptian temple offering a visit to enjoy the view of the Parque Oeste of Madrid and the Royal Palace

The temple of Debod is an Egyptian temple dating from the 2nd century. It is a gift from the Egyptian government to Spain to thank it for its help during the construction of the Aswan Dam. The temple had been in Nubia since the 2nd century, built by King Adijalamani of Meroe, who dedicated a chapel inside to the gods Amun and Isis, and would have been destroyed by the waves if it had not been moved. It was transported to Elephantine Island until 1970, and then was transported stone by stone to the Spanish capital before being rebuilt with the same orientation to the sun that it had in its land of origin. Although, when it arrived in Madrid, its poor condition forced it to be rebuilt practically in its entirety. It can be visited since 1972. Inside, you can see beautiful reliefs of the Ancient Egypt, which unfortunately disappear with the time and especially the passage of the visitors. However, this visit is a great opportunity to enjoy the view of the Parque Oeste of Madrid and the Royal Palace, which stands on your left. After a unique sunset in the Spanish capital, in the evening the lights make this place really magical. You can also enjoy the gardens on both sides of this temple, which are home to plane trees, palm trees and typical Mediterranean plants. In short, you will have understood, here is a pleasant place, almost out of time, a little imaginary even and as planted there...

Beautiful temple that allows you to take beautiful photos. It may seem surprising to find this type of monument in the heart of Madrid, do not expect it.
