Nearly four million specimens of insects, molluscs, fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals, fossils and minerals are presented. The building was built for the National Industry Exhibition in 1881. One of the permanent exhibitions traces the history of life on earth from fossils, another details the Mediterranean ecosystem and a last one recreates the atmosphere of the first natural science firms.
