FOUNTAIN OF NEPTUNE
Fountain of Neptune or the Plaza de Cánovas del Castillo where you can admire the Latin god of the seas on a chariot pulled by sea horses
The main square of Cánovas del Castillo is best known for its Neptune fountain. The Latin god of the seas, designed by Ventura Rodríguez in 1780, brandishes a trident, mounted on a chariot drawn by sea horses.
Like the Madridistas, Atletico players compete and celebrate their victories in Neptune's fountain. It's a way of thumbing their noses at Real Madrid, given that the square is just a few dozen metres from the Cibeles, the famous club's landmark in the event of victory.
