PLAZA DE LA VILLA
Square in Madrid with three buildings, including the house and tower of the Lujanes, the house of Cisneros and the casa de la Villa
Superb square on which stand three remarkable buildings.
In No. 2, the house and tower of the Lujanes (named after the first owners) were built in the 15th century. We notice the Mudéjar influences.
In No. 4, the 16th century Cisneros house (named after the nephew of the famous inquisitor, Isabel and Ferdinand's collaborator) now belongs to the town hall.
At No. 5, the Casa de la Villa, a former town hall (which still belongs to the town hall), is characteristic of the style of the House of Austria (17th century): red stone, granite and slate roof.
