Church of Gothic style which was burned and restored in 1828, holding a painting by Francisco de Goya in the altarpiece
Construction of this Gothic-style church began in 1534 to a design by Alonso Covarrubias, and was completed in 1646. In 1808, the church was burnt down by Napoleon's troops, before being restored in 1828. The church's altarpiece is decorated with a large painting by Francisco de Goya, Asunción de la Virgen(The Assumption of the Virgin). The painter spent long periods in Chinchón with his brother Camilo, who was chaplain of the church from 1783 until his death.
